Steps – My Life without a Bicycle
Angela Järmann
The inspiration for this project came from sheet music. It is a fairly abstract and simple way to illustrate the data (music). The visualisation appears very bold and even a little boring, but the actual data is everything else than bold and boring.
Basically, I counted my steps from door to door. Since the topic was “My Life without a Bicycle”, the steps inside buildings did not matter. For the visualization, I tried to illustrate the collected data as simple as possible. The results are chronologically ordered, repetitive and abstract symbols, which are showing my life in one week in a rather formal manner. To give it a refreshing touch, the product is printed in white on black paper. The embossed white ink should remind one of the braille alphabet.
